This.

Just because they go to your home doesn't mean you are responsible for them. They'll annoy the crap out of you because that's what collectors do but you really aren't the one who has to pay them.

Yeah the bills annoy the crap out of me, she...gawd, there moments like last night when we were shopping for clothes for my son and while I'm waiting him to try on...I'm window shopping the jewelry and clothes and I could see Al in this and zebra print earrings oh definitely her. Then there's days like the suits showing up at the front door asking if we know where she is...the prosecutors office have a few questions for her...it's ongoing...just when you haven't heard from them for awhile...a piece of mail or someone in uniform...sigh...thanks for all the support though folks, it helps

Yah, you definitely are not responsible for the bills, They (should be) in her name.

I know here, once I hit 16, my doctor was not allowed to give my parents any information.

i can tell you at 16 in the your doctor has a responsibility to your parents to inform them. If you didn't sign a promise to pay when your daughter was admited, you're not financially obligated to anything

And I can tell you at 16 my doctor could absolutely not tell my parents anything that went on. This is after trying to get them to get some information for me from 3 separate doctors, so no, it was t just that doctor.

It might be a difference between Canada and the US, because I'm pretty sure here parents can get medical info on anyone under 18.

It's likely different here because of our health care system (No way for a parent to be on the hook financially) but Jess is right about the legality here, I was 16 when I got pregnant with Jenn, living at home, and my Dr advised me to tell my parents ASAP (which I did) but I asked him to "give me time" and he said without my permission he could not even tell my parents I wanted aspirin let alone was pregnant....

Hold on to hope and be there as a support system if she needs it. I was a wreck at 18 and I turned out pretty well, I really credit my moms undying support for a lot of it. I can't imagine what it's like to be put through the ringer as a parent though, I'm very sorry and hope it gets better sooner than later.

I was a wild child at 18 too. Hopefully she will pull it together soon.

It must be a difference. I think its even younger? I knew girls that would go get birth control without their parents knowing at 14 here.
