Default Do you have any fire safety protocol?

So, do you? This is always a big fear of mine, especially because we crate or tie down when we're gone. I'm always worried about what is the safest option in the home.

Oh dear G-d, I'd be crying and hugging that firefighter to pieces. Unfortunately we live in an ancient house, if this place went up I'd have Sophie under one arm and my daughter under the other and break off the door for the cats to get out. A fire would vaporize a house this old.

Ferrets cage is right beside the back door, with a carrier under or beside the cage in case of emergency. Their harnesses, meds and food are right there as well.

Rosey is free in the house and can only be on the main level, and will run to the door if she hears it open (mind you, that may fail in a fire, but...). There is a leash right by the door, as well as her jacket (cause you try to get her out in the rain without it...)

Dogs are kept upstairs in my bedroom. Quickest/safest way would be to drop them out my window somehow - they'd be fine out there for awhile as they'd drop down into their dog yard.

All the dogs sleep in our room so worst case scenario (in a night fire) I would throw them out the window into the backyard. And that would be worst case, we live in a tri level and we'd be lucky not to break legs doing that. If we had time we have an outline of GRAB DOGS GTFO. All the leashes will soon be next to the back door, which would be the best exit since it's fenced and if we can't get leashes on the dogs they wouldn't be able to run away.

A daytime fire when neither of us are there? Mu and Murphy are cordoned in the living room and Tipper is in a kennel in the kitchen. I sincerely hope firefighters would be able to get them out since they'd be right in the main area of the house. I should really get signs...anyone know where to get them?

The city sends us one of those "in case of emergeny, please save my __ dogs, __ cats ___ other ____________" decals every year. Every year I ruin them by puttin the wrong number of ferrets down LOL I really should learn to remember how many ferrets I have

Check your local pet supply store. We sell them for like .79 cents.

Lol that might be a good number to know. I've never gotten something like that from the city, I've just randomly seen the decals on people's windows.
