I do Manual 95% of the time unless I'm shooting something that I don't really care about like taking pictures of something to be put up on craigslist for sale I'll shoot it auto to save time since i don't entirely care what the finished photo looks like in that case.

I too thought this was going to be about cars, lol. Anyway, I use either shutter priority or aperture priority mode 90% of the time. If I'm shooting something that's moving, the camera can adjust exposure much faster than I can. I really don't ever use full manual mode unless I'm doing macro work off a tripod. The priority modes allow you to compensate exposure up and down in 1/3 stop increments anyway, so you can still set the exposure you want, but have the camera adjust quickly to changing light.

Auto.
I traded in my nikon d40 in the name of "This camera is too **** complicated" and got a more simple sony DSLR which I am in love with. All the pretty of my D40 without all the complicated machinery and buttons and everything making me feel like I am such a poser for having the darn thing lol |
