Default Good ferret cage?

That's not a Ferret Nation?

When I move in August, I'm contemplating selling my Ferret Nation 142 and just purchasing a cheap, small cage for Dameon. He's an only ferret and a senior ferret to boot...he doesn't need a huge cage, especially since he's a good boy and doesn't miss his puppy pads when he's left running around the room. He needs space for his food, a water bottle, a giant litterbox, his cozy cat bed, and his cube. That's it. Something that I could use in the future for either rats, Guinea pigs, or as a dog crate would be ideal so that way I'm not stuck with a random cage I don't want a year or two down the line.

I was almost thinking about getting a small/medium sized dog crate with a barrier and then rigging the barrier up as a shelf in the cage (we did it before with my giant dog crate when we had to crate my mom's cat due to a UTI), but I wasn't sure if the bar spacing on a crate would be too wide or not.
