This morning, I got my first pop-up from Kapersky that PDM.invader was dectected. Now I've got over 900 of these being detected, all since approx. 7:30 this morning.
What the heck is this? How do I deal with this? Is this critical, like someone hacking my computer? I've googled it, and I keep finding a lot of people saying it's a "false positive", while others go off on a lecture about how it gives some a-hole hacker access rights to my computer. HALP! ETA: I have Kapersky 2010, and since hubby threw away the box with the licensing stuff, it hasn't been updated to 2012 (I know, I know...it needs to be done). Also, I'm pretty much technologically illiterate.

Okaaaaaaaaay. Now what the heck is a "kernel mode memory patch"?
If I didn't love my 17" laptop, which is a must have for my AutoCAD, I'd throw it into my fireplace about now. grrrrrrrrr........................

The detection may be a false positive. I would get rid of the out of date Kapersky and install AVG and Malwarebytes.

Is the free version of Malwarebytes effective? And the AVG? Just to run them and check my computer?

And why does Kapersky never fix anything? Or does it? All it's ever seemed to do is alert me to a problem/potential problem, but it doesn't allow you to "disinfect" or whatever the heckola that means.

The free versions of both work about the same as the full paid versions as far as detection.

Ummm...I decided to start by downloading the free version of AVG, and Kapersky is screaming warnings at me that a trojan virus is attempting to be downloaded and it's being denied.
I. hate. computers.

Malwarebytes is designed to detect things that other programs miss (but it will miss more common things) so it really should be used with something like AVG. Don't install AVG with anything other than Malwarebytes. Multiple antivirus programs will conflict. I would uninstall kaspersky first.

Well, Kapersky just told me that I now downloaded a virus from AVG:
virus:HEUR.Virus.Win32.generic I'm about to delete it, but why would it say this? Or does this not mean anything? I'm freaking lost......................
