Default Movie ideas?

I've been wanting to watch a movie but every time I go to look, nothing stands out to me at all. I want something interesting and imaginative. Something a little different. I'm very burnt out on the typical action/adventure type movie my family tends to pick out to watch. I'm open to pretty much any genre except I don't do really scary movies.

So suggest away!

Sarah's Key. Not a terrible adaptation from the book.

I watched Man on the Ledge and This Means War last night at my friend's house. Both are really good movies. This Means War is hilarious!

"Taking Chance" was remarkable. Great movie, well acted, powerful story.

Bridesmaids was soooo funny!

As for movies out in theatres, I LOVED 21 Jump Street and Project X. Men In Black 3 was good! Avengers was amazing of course. I forced my boyfriend to watch What to Expect When You're Expecting (because we are) and it was hilarious.

If you have a drive-in nearby, you should definitely go and take your pups! Fozz loves going to the drive-ins and meeting the other dogs there during intermission.

Definitely one of my all time favorites.

That other thread's got me wanting to watch Labyrinth again. And How to Train Your Dragon. Sometimes going back and catching old favorites is exactly right.

Another one with some vintage on it that is well worth seeing is The Red Violin.

The Invention of Lying is a thought provoking comedy, but it could be offensive to traditional religionists.

And sometimes what is really, really perfect for the evening is a BAD movie. One the critics hate that's turned into a cult classic, like Buckaroo Banzai or Naked Lunch (although you should probably be at least a little drunk or stoned for that one to make any sense -- Burroughs is like that, lol).

I'm really wanting to watch John Carter when it comes out.

A Clockwork Orange, God Bless America. Machine Gun Preacher was a very good docudrama.

Interesting and imaginative? Hmmm... I mean, I like a lot of movies that are kind of under-the-radar and unique, but sometimes they can be depressing, LOL. I tend to relate to "real life" movies about just humans being human. Like, The Green Mile and Road to Perdition and probably two of my favorite movies.

But I watched American Beauty (for the first time the other night, it came out in 1999) and it was super different. Really kinda "weird" and very different, but I liked it. Great acting. Kevin Spacey is almost always great though, imo. And critically, Pay it Forward did not get rave reviews but it's one of my favorites too since it came out. The Life of David Gale was another of his that I watched last week and loved.

I haven't been into a ton of recent movies - I tend to catch up on older movies that I've never seen or were never very popular but have great acting. I'm not a huge action/adventure fan, only in certain cases. It has to have a really good storyline to back it up.

I'm not sure if these help, or are even what you're looking for, lol.
