Yikes. I'm so sorry.

We're having problems with Cole's meds in trying to keep a constant level. He's on Trileptal (it's one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't medications). Unfortunately for Cole, since his seizures originate from the frontal lobe and are general (there is no single point of origin, but rather a general misfiring all over the frontal lobe), there are currently only 2 medications for him right now. It should be noted that Cole's epilepsy is a result of brain damage from the viral encephalitis when he just turned 2.

I do worry about him as he grows up. If I had a magic wand and could take it all away, I would in a heartbeat.

I'm sorry, Fran. My friend has epilepsy, and he made the choice to stop taking medication. I'm not sure what he was taking or how many different medications he tried, but I do know that they weren't doing much to help him so he decided to just stop taking them. He's learned to be able to tell when a seizure is coming and how to de-escalate it a bit. He's completely self-sufficient and manages just fine. If you're unable to find a medication that works for you, I hope you can achieve the same. You can do it!

Fran I'm so sorry you had such a terrifying experience! Kudos to you for being such an upbeat gal who, while havnig to deal with a condition that causes so much upheaval in her life, can still appreciate all that is good in her life as well. You are truly amazing!

Ugh.

Yet, through it all.... Fran finds the silver lining. Of course.

Prayers and vibes Fran.

Best of luck, Fran. More good vibes headed your way.

Please be careful with the med break. My roommate in college (epilepsy, not sure what kind) decided to wean herself back on meds (she ran it by her doc first) and it didn't end well.
