We took Art to the dog park, just like usual, and for the last 2 days someone there has manhandled Artimis. I'm so proud of him though, he handled it with grace!
Yesterday, this one guy PICKED ART UP RIGHT OFF THE GROUND!! >_< Then proceeds to try and play KISSY FACE with him! What did my (as far as my sister says) "people aggressive" dog do? Give the guy kisses as his slightly people aggressive mom ran over and politely asked the guy to put my dog down. So, I'm proud of him and me, I didn't bite the guy and neither did Art! whoohoo! ![]() Then today Art was walking passed this lady and she leans down, practically grabbing him and starts petting him. This time it wasn't bad because Art was wagging his tail furiously and leaning into her. Usually Art just dodges the approaching hands and keeps going like nothing happened. Well.... Success! ^_^ I've gotta say, we've come a long way since the Barking, growling, monster! Also, The regulars are in Love with Artimis. I got requests to breed him after showing off a bit of his tricks One person said they wished he was not neutered so they could have a little one of him and all I could say was "Um...No. You really don't." LOL ![]() All in all, lots of success lately and wish I hadn't forgotten my camera! |

I'm glad he handled it so well .. Can't promise that I would have.
Some people are just so pushy at dog parks. I can't imagine some random guy just picking my dog right up off the ground. But at least you managed to keep your cool!It sounds like you've made a lot of progress with Artimis! Well done!

Yay, Artimis! And you! I probably would have bitten that guy.
I don't think anyone is gonna be able to lift Riley's 65 lbs up to play kissyface but he does tend to dodge someone trying to pet him, which is fine with me, I don't particularly want him to be friendly with strangers.

You and Art have surely worked hard!
*giggles, thinking about someone trying to play kissyface with Kharma*

I'm trying to imagine grabbing some stranger's dog, picking it up, and playing kissy face. I'm trying to imagine what I'd do if someone did that with my dog.
I've concluded that: 1) The gene pool will likely be spared the gentleman in question's contribution when a dog bites his nose off, making him unattractive to females. 2) In the alternative, the gene pool will be spared his contribution when a furious owner murders him . . . Good for you and Art on handling it well. But I'm flabbergasted at the breathtaking idiocy.

It's a small dog thing. People are nuts! It never has crossed my mind to pick up an adult dog that belongs to someone else. Puppies.. yep. But I ask first. However when I was watching this pug... and omg you guys it was a wretched pug. I mean, I liked him and all but he did *not* age well. People LOVE pugs though. I'd take him for a walk and guaranteed someone would pick him up. He loved it but still.
hah, it reminds me once though when I was going to go pick Duke up from my friends shop (plumbing/gas fitting shop full of men) and I walked in to him in the arms of one of the biggest guys there, cradling him like a baby and making baby talk to him. I think I almost died of the cute.

Brother said that lasted all of 2 seconds before Dominick reared back, lashed out with a wicked right hook 3 times, then reached forward and bit the guy's nose. My brother described the encounter as WaaPing! WaaPing! WaaPing! CHOMP! Scum Fighter 1, Friend 0. Unfortunately, Friend did go on to marry and contribute to the gene pool... I can't imagine picking up any strange animal, especially without the owner's permission.
