Default Adding a second cat questions

My boyfriend wants to get another cat. Since going over to my mom's house and bringing Brobee its really obvious he likes other cats. Even when they don't like him. While we aren't rushing out to add a new one or anything he is really hell bent that Brobee wants a buddy. My questions are how the heck do you find a cat that likes other cats? It'd defeat the purpose of adding another if it hated Brobee because even though Tyler wants one for himself, he wants to get another cat because Brobee loves other felines too.

Go to the shelter and ask who is the most social? They let cats out together, so they should have an idea of which cats are chill with others.

Do you think it'd be best to get one around his age? He's a little under a year and is a big guy with a very obnoxious personality. I don't know how I'd feel though having two of them in the house. He has a personality that is larger than life and really I think a calmer cat would be annoyed with him, but I dunno if I can handle two Brobees.

Yeah, I'd look for a shelter/rescue that lets their cats out together or in small groups or look for cats that have been fostered. I would try to get another playful one or else he'd get very upset with Brobee, though it doesn't necessarily have to be the same age, some adult/older cats still like to play. Also remember that playing with other cats and playing with toys/household items is not the same, you can get a well behaved, calm cat who still like to wrestle with other cats or a cat who loves toys and has no interest in other cats.

I'm cruising petfinder right now and it appears the shelters in our area have a lot of cats that fit the bill of young, playful and like other cats. Our shelters are pretty stuffed and won't even accept new cats anymore so I am hopeful with such a big selection we will find something.

Ah it's still off in the future as we are looking to move first. Tyler is a total closet cat lover and keeps bringing it up. I haven't quite decided if it's 100% yet or not. He randomly brought the last one home and got in trouble so he's letting me call the shots on this one.
