Default Plans are ordered! (After a change again!!) is this still "Tiny"?

So after much discussion about the modifications we'd need to make to the plans we had narrowed down, we decide to look more... And I am so glad we did! I love the plan we found! The best part is the garage we will build in a few years with the apartment above for my son... It's perfect!

Sooo.... Does 946 sq feet still count as tiny?

The only change we are making is removing the front bedroom to enlarge the LR, the basement will have 2 bedrooms and a rec room in time...

We are excited!!!! Should break ground in late June/ Early July... Starting the permit process now... Not so excited about that part!!

Very cute, and nice use of space!

Where are you going to stash the son before you finish in the basement?

LOL

He is actually staying in the house we are in now (Just across the road) my MIL is going to be renting it and has a spare bedroom, so he will bunk with her until we get the garage up (He may not want to leave, unlike me she's likely to spoil him by doing his laundry, making lunches etc...)

When we break ground I may start a progress thread... Thought it would be neat to document as we go...

It's super duper cute. And I love the color shown too! It is tiny, but it will be heat efficient and as long as you aren't apt to collect too much stuff, it should be fine. It's really very pretty. I think that's a good idea to enlarge the living room. The downstairs rooms will be enough and the garage apt sounds soooooo nice! Can't wait to see how things progress.

Just curious, why are you insist on having a tiny house?

If I have the land, a nice budget & freedome to build whatever we want, I'd like to have the largest house possible (within the set budget, of course!).. but it seems like you're looking to build the tiniest one possible.

There are lots of reasons for building small -- it's ecologically responsible, leaves a smaller footprint on the earth, uses fewer materials, easier to heat/cool, etc.

And then there are the "less work" reasons!

Plus the "no room for people to move in" aspect

All of the above.... LOL

We don't need more space... It's just hub and I...

Plus, we are building mortage free, so very strict budget, and though we could afford a mortage we just want to be payment free as possible..

We also are trying to keep our monthly bills to a bare minimum, we are heating with an outdoor wood furnace that will do double duty and heat the shop as well, our hydro will be shared with the shop (1bill means not getting nailed twice for delivery/ debt retirement charge etc) as well as the wireless Internet we will "steal" from the shop...

There are a few reasons, being close to 40 we want to free up money to put into retirement, also with the climate what it is now, we want to be set up so that should work for the shop dry up, or I lose my job to outsourcing we will still be able to survive... And not starve LOL

It's so cute! I really love your garage too. That's a great little house plan.

And funny enough, it's got more square footage than our house on the inlet did. I never thought of it as a tiny house, but if the shoe fits... lol
