No Rubbing the puppies nose in its mess does nothing other than teach the pup that you are scarey. If I catch the pup messing the floor,I say ahhh loud enough to startle the pup ,than quick put them in the potty spot.If I dont catch them I just clean it up as quick as possible while biting my lip cause I didnt catch them.Puppies generally need to go about every half hour or so.I make lots of trips outside to avoid accidents.

I'm having to reprogram a 6 month (maybe 7months now) old pug. He was to learn to use a pad but very little success with that one. Now he lives with me and he insist on saving his duties for the inside. Some days I think he's got it, other days its a nightmare. I think it's best to just train them to go outside if you can. Thats just my opinon.

My 6 mth old chihuahua is litter box trained out of neccesity, I live in a 6th floor apartment and when I am at work he has to be inside. However that doesn't mean he always goes inside, when we are having walks he knows how to go on the grass, and when we go visiting I don't have a problem because he will generally hold it and I take him outside every so often to see if he needs to go.
I think litter box training is great for people in my situation because my dog is a real indoor dog, and is happiest curled up at home with me

How did you teach him to go both in the box and on the grass?

I didn't really teach him, he would just go when we were outside, and i just praised him every time so he knew it was a good thing.
