Choosing a puppy class trainer (be wary of shutzhund trainers?)

Good lord, I'm not sure my hip or knee could take that kind of stupidity.

I think others telling you to go watch is good advice. Either you'll mesh with this trainer or you won't and there is no harm in finding out other points of view on dog training.

Where are you in Boston? Cause seriously if my old trainer that moved there is anywhere near you, and teaching, then you'd be set.

I called and doubt it's going to work but am going for an evaluation anyway when the time comes they didn't give much (or any rather) info on the phone about price, philosophy, training styles.. but said to come in for an eval when I'm ready so I figure why not. leave no stone unturned and all! If anything at least I'll learn something new and as someone said, get some info on other training styles

Definitely go check it out. My trainer is very +R especially for puppies! Not saying that you won't see dogs getting corrected, but I've been pleasantly surprised at how a lot of SchH trainers have used marker/rewards training, with huge success.
