Lawmaker Proposes Ban on Aborting Dead Babies

I am seriously sick of the freakin politicians. I'm embarassed by our state, and our nation right now. We have issues, no doubt. In this state in particular, they want to open an open pit iron ore mine in northern WI.

That area does need jobs there is very little industry or good paying jobs up there. BUT WI is also a leader in terms of environmental tourism. Just last year I think I read they are only behind the state of AK when it comes to people visiting to do outdoor activities, with northern WI being a huge draw, so care needs to be taken to preserve that.

That said, a mining company comes in with it's self written legislation that will "streamline" the permit process. By streamline it means take away any of the publics rights to enforce existing environmental laws, and when something goes wrong, ti takes away the public's right to hold the company liable. Great ****ing legislation.

anyway, it died because ONE and only ONE republican withdrew his support here.

Instead of everyone going back to the negotiating table and working on bringing jobs AND protecting the publics rights and a major driver to our State's economy what do our wonderful numbskull's in the legislature do to the wee hours of the morning so they can go on their legislative "break"????

Pass a law limiting private insurance abortion payments and ****ing abstinence education to be taught in sex ed. Thanks for tackling the issues that are really facing people, ****ing morons. I seriously would love to call myself a Republican in many respects, but i just can't.

Well, this is one example of the result of what happens...where government pushes their noses into every imaginable aspect of our lives, gets involved with and takes over every business of the citizens... WHEN we vote for more government, more regulations, more bans, more laws, more government entities, for the government to do this or that for these kinds of citizens, to take care of this for us and provide something else. When we vote for politicians who want to DO all kinds of "wonderful" things FOR us, this is what we get and a whole lot more. Actually....a whole lot less freedom. If America doesn't wake up soon and stop asking the gov to DO everything for us, we will be totally and completely under the politicians control. We already are to a great extent. You can NOT have one without the other. You can not have the government "helping" with things and not be regulated and controlled, forced and have your every move watched.

I'm just counting down to the day where someone proposes a law to consider rape a crime only if it doesn't result in pregnancy. Because hallelujah, there's another bundle of joy on the way now!

It's become that way....that the only people to vote for are ready to jump in and DO for us, regulate, ban, make this a law, make that against the rules, you can't do what you want with your own property, but you still have to pay taxes on it....and more and more taxes, make the rich pay until they run out of money, take from the rich which will only eliminate incentive and then where will you be? It's become this way BECAUSE people have asked for it. And they've asked for it for a long enough time that we've evolved into a very socialistic, over-regulated country which has also resulted in a vast loss of freedom.

Who do we vote for? Well, it's not a cut and dry thing. But basically, the republican philosophy tends toward less government involvement, fewer taxes and the democrats tend toward a philosophy of more government, raising taxes to pay for this, that and the other thing, more regulation, more small groups that taxpayers have to pay for etc. Tends toward. When the people are screaming for more help, the republicans have to bend and go with the raising of taxes too. People have to put their foot down and stop asking for so much government interference.

Until people realize that they have to sacrifice some of the fake "security" and the "help" they think they're getting in order to have freedom and economic health, it will continue and it will get worse. It will cost us our whole economic system...we'll lose everything very soon and it will cost us our freedom, worst of all.

It seems so far fetched, but really...it's not out of the realms of possibility at all. Just give those law makers and regulators more power and that's just what we'll get.

And if the Dems like to over regulate (do they ever) the general hostility towards all regulation that doesn't involve uteri that you get from the GOP is equally disturbing, see e.g., your example about the mine. Some things have to be regulated to some extent so that people aren't injured and their property damaged or destroyed by others acting irresponsibly. But the GOP cares not one bit if mine tailings pollute your wells and make your farm worthless . . . because it would be "regulation" and "unfriendly to business" to pass a law saying the mine can't do that.

There is a happy medium out there. Shame neither party is interested.

Edit: On the off-topic mining issue, my family's home town (basically my ancestral home, even though I did not grow up there) happens to be on uranium deposits. The unemployment rate is in the high twenties. A mine would be great. Except the Dems don't want to let it happen at all, and if the GOP is in charge every one knows the Dan river is going to start glowing. So, take your pick . . . unemployed dead town or radioactive dead town . . . which is sort of how I feel about picking between the parties.
