Plus now that Borders is gone I haven't actually bought very many books... I was sort of an impulse buyer with books. I'd go to the store with my coupon with nothing particular in mind, wander around, and go "oh hey, I wanted to read that!" and buy something.

My bank account is happy Borders went under I guess. =P
You need a used book store close to you. They know me by name at "Books 4 Less"

I knew I liked you!

Yeah, Tamora Pierce stuff was pretty much what I got into after Harry Potter. Before Harry Potter I hated reading, then I read that and liked it. Then I got her Immortals series and finished the first in a day and it was all over. Love her stuff so much. Bored? Well guess I'll reread some Pierce books!

And have you read any of the Juliet Marillier's books? Daughter of the Forest is still like one of my all times favorites and I've read it more times than I can count. But I really did enjoy her Hearts Blood book which was kinda a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, though very different. And Heir to Sevenwaters was interesting and neat, very different from her typical heroine

Thanks so much you guys! I now have a huge list that I've compiled by googling the suggestions you guys made, and picking ones I'm interested in. So far I think I want to read Divergent first, but a ton of others made it to my list. I really appreciate the reccomendations!

The main character just makes you laugh (and I am in love with the main male character *is it ok to be in love with a book character?*).
As it wont ruin anything....I have read the series multiple times now and I STILL laugh each time when the MacHalo is invented...know the scene I am talking about??

And yes......head over heels for the main guy.

Oh, another author I really like....Illona Andrews (ok, technically it two authors but thats the name the use) All the books are good but her Kate Daniels series....really like the slow build of the relationship..gives you time to really fall in love with the characters.

Also, Keri Aruthur...really really love her Riley Jenson series. Very good love story there as well

All of these though are definitely adult and tend to be on the graphic/violent side but man, GOOD characters and plot.

Oh, and if looking for just a good romance, often with a bit of a juicy story line, Nora Roberts has some great stuff. Yes, they are romances, but honestly, except for her really old stuff, she tells a great story to go along with it. Often a bit predictable and the characters are not as deep as some series, etc...but I am always entertained and hooked by them

LOVE Juliet Marillier. Her books are so long and so in depth but they're so incredibly good. I read the Sevenwaters books when I was in high school and then spent HOURS combing Barnes and Noble for them one day (I couldn't remember the title or the author lol) and have re-read them multiple times since. I'm going to have to look up her not Sevenwaters books....I vaguely recall buying one a couple years ago. *off to search book collection*

Oh and the Abhorsen books by Garth Nix are incredible. I don't know if anyone has recommended them yet!

By the way, if you haven't read the Hitchiker's series, you should do that. Immediately.
