That's just sadistic. How can some people be that way? What is missing in some people that makes them so apathetic and even outright evil?

That's unbelievable. How can these people be so cruel as to let these animals deliberately starve to death? It makes me wonder if these women have any kind underlying psychopathy. I hope they get the max sentence possible, and at least a psych eval.
