I agree with Richard.

And here's how I taught my hyper mutt Nanook to not jump (I have to be consistent or she will take advantage).

Make sure your dog knows 'sit' well. Start making her sit before she does anything else. Sit for food. Sit for attention. Sit to go outside. If she jumps on you turn and walk away. Ignore her. Come back after a few minutes and tell her to sit. If she sits fawn all over her. I mean go all out. It's best to get down to her level so she doesn't want to jump on you (she's trying to be close to your face). Pivot and walk away if she jumps on you. Ignore her for a few minutes. Walk back and ask her to sit. When she sits fawn all over her. don't let her jump up...
