Well, I feel like a first class idiot right now! These are two of my favorite German show line dogs -
SG UKC CH Alta-Tollhaus Bono "Nikon" SCHH1 T1 FO PA CL1-R UNJ U-CA HIT TT CGC owned by Lies Rosema ![]() http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/germ...html?id=699492 by Markus vom Status Quo out of Quellie vom Kirschental. Civil dog, very serious and "real" in his protection. Would have easily recognized a picture of Nikon had it been a standing shot. Other dog is VP Alta-Tollhaus Schumi SCHH1 owned by Becky Perry ![]() http://de.pedigreedatabase.com/germa...html?id=595280 by Jimmy von Arminius 2000 out of Faye vom Kirschental. She always stood out to me through photos because of her hold and bark, very involved and strong. Both dogs are out of Kirschental dams and are sired by fairly popular high line studs. They are all German show line.

You can most likely find what you want in any 'line' of gsd's. The important thing is to know what you want, what you want to live with and what you don't want to live with.
If you have a specific 'thing' in mind, go to someone who is doing that "thing" with their dogs. All my gsd's have been mostly DDR (east german working line)..it's what "I" like. Right now I am down to one gsd, who's dam is a slovakian import narcotics certified and ddr/czech sire who does SAR, and has a gazillion other titles along with receiving a PAT , which I believe is recognition for his versatility/titles by the GSDCA.. She's a spitfire and at 3 years old, has just recently shown she has an "off" switch. While I am getting older and probably don't want "two" of her, she is alot of fun and a go anywhere, do anything type of dog. I admire alot of the breeders listed already, as well as the dogs. This is Masi's ped http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/germ...ee/551900.html First know what you want, second meet/connect with as many breeders as your able , even better ask to visit them, their dogs. Finding a good breeder is key and everything else will fall into place providing you 'know' what you want & don't want in a dog |

I prefer the West German Working lines crossed with a nice Czech line. This cross seems to produce the more balanced working bred dogs that I have seen/met. I like the Von Den Wannaer Hohen dogs, my own dog goes back to Deika v.d. Wannaer Hohen and some other great dogs on top. On the bottom he goes back to some very nice Von Statdfeld dogs.
He is me last GSD more than likely. I love the breed and love him to pieces but living with him has been a challenge. Granted he was a dog out of a litter that was bred mainly for serious true working(k9 etc.) jobs. He has very little in the way of balance. Its balls to the walls or nothing. There is no middle ground and that has been trying for me. He is a wonderful dog and can/does therapy visits but I have to keep his mind working at all times when we are out. He can be very dog reactive without proper slow introductions. He will also take advantage of someone if he feels that they are leary of him, just because he can if no one is paying attention, he does it by being in their face and having no respect for their personal space and then he will sometimes urinate on someone. He is a straight West German Working line with a bit of Czech thrown in..way back. He would be an excellent dog if I was to keep him as most Schutzhund competitors do in a kennel and he wasn't a house dog. Not trying to scare you, but if I knew what I know now, when I got him, I would have NEVER EVER EVER EVER went with this breeding or pedigree. I would have went with a little less drive and more balance. IF I get another GSD it will be from Schraderhaus K9, VonGrunheide, VomWusteberg or VomHausVianden. I like their dogs, have met them personally and feel they can give me what I want with more balance. Visit breeders, talk to people and decide what your main sport will be, then go from there. If you are looking at Agility, I highly reccomend Kleinenhain, I believe she does agility with her GSDs and they are doing well at it!! Don't get stuck on a color!! You can prefer certain looks and go to a breeder that meets your requirements but in the end, looks need to be last cause you can pass up some pretty spectacular dogs if you're caught up in a color! Here is Judge's pedigree... http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/germ...html?id=528847

Masi is a kleinenhain dog
Her nose never stops, she's a tracking fool, her mother Helga v Eurosportu is now at Schraderhaus (who has nice dogs as well There are ALOT of breeders I admire and would take a dog from in a second, as Red said above, don't get stuck on color tho it's not 'bad' to have a preference..This is Masi who's also a jolly ball addict.

I knew Masi was a Kleinenhain dog! I have a friend that has a bitch out of Helga, she is 10 months old now. Really super nice bitch, I love her. Jean does great placements!
Just do a ton of research. I have met dogs from Wildhaus and thoroughly reccomend Chris! She is a great breeder and is another one that is excellent at placements.

Masi is gorgeous! I really like what Schraderhaus and Wildhaus have.
I've really liked the Czech dogs I've met, but most had some WG in there too. A very nice little bitch has been coming out to training. I really like her. She's really intense in her work, but super social off the field. My mixes will even take advantage of people too, but not as rudely as Judge though! lol |

Which club do you train with? I used to live in the PNW. I did mostly Ring but was a member of a Schutzhund club for a while. I've got a deposit down on a GSD pup. I don't claim to know a lot about the lines, but I did manage to figure out that I'm most attracted to West German Working and DDR lines. Equinox and RedChrome are the two I ask when I have questions about GSD lines! |

There were two clubs, but I think only one is still really active. And then there is a group of three of us who train informally with a different guy who is a lot more positive with the dogs than the decoys who work with the Schutzhund club(s). I dunno, I visited the clubs a couple times and I like the guy I'm working with a lot better after what I saw at club. On sunday the club trained on one side of the printing company's grounds and we trained on the other, lol.
I like the combo's being done of DDR/Czech/WG lines. I've been heavily researching GSD's (and Mals!) and meeting all the dogs I can since I adopted Lily 4 years ago. Someday! You must post many puppy pics!!!!

I can say that rhe litter out of my boy which was a West German Working /Czech cross is very balanced and excelling at their chosen venues.
