Zoom Lenses

Help me oh wise photography people, please, help.

I'd like to have a new lens for shooting agility/dogs in action shots, and I went ahead and in a spur of the moment bought a 75-300mm lens that mom bought me and as much as I appreciate the lens, it's not exactly the quality I want. She paid $130 for it brand new, I believe. Anywho, I'm kind of looking at selling that one and getting a different one, and I'd like to not have to pay as much as my car for it, so I've been scoping out some "cheaper" lenses that still, to me, look like they might be decent.

And of course, some of them are a bit higher than I'd like to pay, but I was just wondering if anyone could give some input on all, or any, of these lenses.

I'm shooting with a Canon Rebel xSi right now, and that's not likely to change for a year or two, so... thoughts, opinions, ideas? Thanks!

You know, I might consider making do for now, with the lens that you have. None of those lenses really jump out as being incredible producers (though granted I haven't used all of them). But if you can save up a little more, you might think about something like this:

The second one is a lens that I use at school (I could never shell out for something like that), but if you have the money or are willing to save a little, it's beyond worth it!

Either way, you did a good job using Canon to begin with, haha. I switched from a Nikon SLR and the difference is astronomical. =D

I just realized how unhelpful all of that was. Maybe someone with a more varied experience can tell you which of the lenses you posted are good in practice?

Try the Canon 55-250 IS.

you want something image stabilized for action shots of the dogs.

Both the 55-250 and 18-200 focuses very quickly and accurately. Good for action. The 55-250 is affordable and works well for many consumers.

The Tamrons focus a lot slower, especially in low light, so I don't know if you want to use them for action. The 2nd Tammy is a good quality lens though.
