My take is that The Doctor needs/wants/likes someone who stands up to him, which Donna did in spades. Otherwise, you end up with a Doctor who runs around willy-nilly-wibbly-wobbly and a companion going "yay! more!" and then we have the Doctor we saw at the end of "Waters of Mars".

I agree with that too. But other companions stood up to him quite well whilst still getting along with him.
I liked her just fine, just I didn't find their relationship believable so it kind of ruined those episodes for me because most of them I was like 'why?'. LOL I did that all through Twilight too.. I couldn't figure out why Edward would be interested in Bella, other than not hearing her thoughts. |
