I looked at the site a bit and didn't see anything that would make me think one should avoid this breeder. I'm not a Cane Corso person though and don't know anyone who is, so I'm not sure what people tend to look for in them. I'd say the best place to start would be to contact them and see what you think and maybe ask if they have any puppies in your area that you could meet.

Great they do pennhip. My bad, I'm Canadian. Not much of that up here, so I don't look for pennhip, I looked the kennel up through the OFA alone. Glad they test something, but it's not nearly enough. Corsos are sadly not the healthiest breed with a multitude of problems including eyes, elbows, thyroid and heart disease to name a few. Them doing pennhip.. it's minor. The insta paypal link on its own is skeazy.

Well I at least looked at their site before offering an opinion. And said I wasn't a Cane Corso person and didn't know anyone who was so I wasn't sure what people tended to look for in them.

If I were looking for rare breed breeders, especially if it were my first one, I'd talk to Jeannine (PlanetMolosser) first. She's handled so many rare breeds and has an extensive working knowledge of molossers across the board -- and she is a stickler for breeding ethics.
I'm not crazy about the Paypal link either. Paypal charges a significant fee for that by the month according to what I found so it leads me to think that this is a person who sells a steady supply of pups -- kind of a volume thing. Pennhip is used more in some of the molosser breeds as there are several that have a different hip configuration that shows up as poor hips on OFA. But Maf is right, on Corsos there are other things that definitely need testing. You don't have to be a breeder to know that, and someone who is looking at owning the breed definitely doesn't need to NOT be informed of that!

Hi,
Just thought I would drop a note in order to clear up some misunderstandings posted here. First and foremost, I do NOT have a PayPal button on my website. In order to be considered for one of my puppies, a person has to go through a screening process. Most people are turned down. This breed is NOT for everyone. A person just can’t send a deposit and be put on the list! I have been a prominent member of the Corso community since ’95. This breeding program is our family’s hobby. Our goal is to produce the best Corsi in the world. EVERY litter is planned in order to keep puppies for ourselves. 90% of what we sell is on spay and neuter contracts and we have solid restriction and requirement for those that are occasionally placed with breeding rights into show homes. The only reason we have puppies for sale is because we can’t keep them all. This is not a money making project. We could not possibly recoup all the investment we have made over the years. No this is my life’s work and our obsession. It would be a blessing if proceed covered this projects HUGE over head, but I am not holding my breath! LOL As far as health testing; 100% of our breeding program has passing hip scores. We are the ONLY large breeder that does. It’s been that way for over a decade. I was a pioneer in hip testing the Corso. While there are occasion issues in the community with eyes, elbows and hearts. They are not common in our program. The breeding stock’s hearts, eyes and thyroid are tested by my vet. Because we have a very comprehensive guarantee that not only covers health but temperament as well, we strive to produce excellent, health puppies. It doesn’t mean much to have the AKC #1 dog if it’s in poor health or have to replace a large percentage of puppies when simple testing would avoid those issues. We have less than 5% replacement rate across the board. Believe me; we don’t mind setting the bar in the community. If and when other testing is necessary, we will be doing it. I hope I have been able to clear up any confusion. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. Our program is an open book. I am happy to answer any questions you may have about the breed as well. I have been in charge of Breed Ed for the National breed for 6 years. |

this is a new breed for the dog community in general. There seems to be a sea of people that have jumped in thinking they were going to make the "big bucks" LOL. So good info is often hard to come by. Thanks for the clarification on the paypal link
