Just because I'm really dumbfounded by people's stupidity...

My husband just called me and told me that a stranger walked INTO our yard while the dogs were out. Found out after that apparently he is a business man, opening a new business in the neighbourhood, and trying to get to know people. My husband was out in the yard with his parents they are working on building a shed... so I guess this guy figured because they were there, that it was safe to just walk in without permission......

Joey (husband) yells at him to stop (our yard is big so he couldn't get there in time), and says one of our dogs is not friendly (Riley) and he just responds, "Its ok!! I have labs, I know all about dogs!" or something stupid like that. So he continues to come in the yard... THEN he goes and tries to pet Riley, who by this time has probably stopped barking and is trying to sniff him, so he thinks it's ok. Riley nipped him. Nothing serious thank goodness, but I almost wish he would have done worse to teach this guy a lesson.

Seriously, dude, does the sign on our fence, and a gigantic barking guard dog not mean anything to you?



Needless to say he got a lecture from Joey, but I don't know if it will resonate. Sigh.

How scary and infuriating! Its so, so frustrating that people don't realize that not all dogs are friendly.

Did the man try to blame Riley/your husband?

WOW... people are REALLY dumb sometimes. Ugh.

I walk a Rottweiler and I've had people pull that crap on me, and I'm like uh, NO, he's not friendly. Sometimes it amazes me, I guess it's not a terrible thing that people see a Rottweiler and aren't scared half to death, but at the same time, don't be an idiot.

Back yard! I don't think he blamed them, I don't think he got hurt - he was just totally clueless. Joey tried to explain the breed and how Riley is super protective and he was lucky he didnt lose a limb! (some over exaggeration there so maybe he won't do it again)

If there was no one home, I'm not sure what Riley would have done (we don't leave them out anyways when we're not home) but because Joey was there, he did let the guy in the yard, and probably would have been fine if the guy didn't try to interact with him. If he just would have ignored him, it would have been fine.

IDIOT. People can be so incredibly dense sometimes, like the bible thumpers who continue to ring our door bell when there is not only a "Baby sleeping, please come back later" sign clearly hung over the door bell, but also a sight that says "This home holds a family of proud Wiccans - Please take your religious propaganda elsewhere." AND another one in the front window (right by the door) that says BEWARE OF DOGS. REALLY? How much of the freaking population is illiterate, and why do they all seem to be around dog people???
I love that sign, by the way, where did you get it???

Ack People are just so rude. Im a christian, but I find those Bible thumping, door too door people very rude and annoying and personally they make christianity look bad alot of the time. ACK!!! Puts a bad taste in my mouth.

Im trying to think of a clever sign to put up for when I get my mastiff, unfortunatly putting up a "Beware of dog" sign makes you liable if the dog does bit someone.

I wonder if a "dogs on duty" would be an ok one??

I got it on Ebay but they don't seem to have that particular one anymore... the ones above are available in a few different breeds though!

What totally is odd to me is that there are people like my husband and his family that just flat out don't have a clue that there are not nice dogs out there. My husband admitted that before he met me, he just thought all dogs were nice and that's how his mom, sister and entire family are.
