Hey ya'll! My name is Roni and I have 3 sweet K-9 babies. I have a golden retriever who is strictly an outdoor dog, her name is Cinnamin. She is 10 years old. I have a terrior mix named Chevy and he is 7 years old. My newest addition is a 7 month old blue heeler / lab mix. His name is Rookie and I rescued him from puppy row. He only had a day left. Thank goodness I just happened to stop. He is the light of my life. I recently (June) lost my baby of 15 years to a tumor in his brain. He was a dalmation / beagle mix. I also rescued him, although I was just out of high school and living at home with my parents. I don't think they bought the idea that I found him on the side of the road. Funny thing...they both fell in love with him immediately. His name was Rudy and I miss him so much everyday. Making the decision to put him down was the absolute hardest thing that I have ever had to do. He had been suffering with ear problems for about 7 - 8 years. It didn't matter how many vets that I took him to, they never diagnosed that he had a tumor until late last year. They put him under and went into his ear to get a good look and take a biopsy. Thats when we found out. Then I was directed to a vet specialist who wanted to do surgery and remove the tumor, inner ear canal and close up the ear. He said he would be good as new. The surgery was done in January and shortly after he began having severe seizures. It was so bad that he couldn't be left alone EVER and he was on anti-seizure medicine. The seizures just keep coming more often and more severe. I hated to see him go through that. All I could do to help him was just hold him until they stopped (about 30 -50 minutes). So sad. I apologize for rambling on, I guess I just needed to talk about Rudy. I just miss him so much. :( Thank you for listening. I absolutely love this site!

Have a great day! :p

wow...you sound like a great mommy to your babies. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I imagine that he greatly apprecitates you finally making him feel all better. He is probably sending you kisses from the sky! I had to get my tissues out after that story. My husband and I have 2 babies of our own that are the joy of our life, and I hope that they will live happily forever with me! Bailey is a 3 year old mixed breed, and Rosie is a one year old PBT mix ( she is the one smiling in the picture)- both shelter babies! Welcome to the forum!

Welcome Roni & Gang!

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of Rudy :( It sounds like you still have some wonderful furbabies in your family! I know we have lost several dogs over the years... and it sure never gets any easier! The only thing I've found that helped me, after going through it several times was to stop feeling that I am trying to "replace" a dog we've lost (since they are all one of a kind... and this is never an option anyway!) and realizing that having the chance to "save" another dog that might otherwise not have a chance for a good life... now that is a great feeling! :)

We now have blind Jack Russell Terrier, Lucy, who will be 3 years in January, and we adopted a Rat Terrier, Holly, from a rescue in July and she just turned 7 months old.

I hope you will post some pictures of your gang! Would love to see them! :)

I am so sorry to hear about your loss with Rudy. I know how hard that must have been for you. You are so wonderful to your animals and they are so lucky they have you. It is so nice to have this forum and know there are so many caring people out there who love their animals as much as I do. Rudy had a wonderful life with you and I bet he knew he had the very best mommy he could ever have.

Welcome Roni ~

Thank you for sharing your Rudy with us. I'll bet you have all sorts of great stories to share about him and we'll enjoy reading them. I've had to let go of several dogs in my lifetime and it never, ever gets any easier, but I'm grateful for each and every second they shared with me, as I know you are with your Rudy.
