Default Beauceron

Tell me about them?

Whats the shedding like?

How would they be in cold/hot weather?

Energy level?

DA? SSA?

Are they an aloof dog or stranger lovers??

They're double coated, but the ones I've seen didn't have as much coat as a GSD. They were aloof, but came around pretty quickly to me (a woman), but were slower with men who approached, but they belonged to a single woman, so that could have been why.

More than that, I can't say, but figured I'd comment to keep your post active!

Best friend has one; import from France; she would have shoved him back in the crate returned him had she known what she knows now . . . although IF (big IF) she wanted another one; she'd go with the lady down in the States (California I think); she is breeding decent dogs.

Late maturer (like 2.5 + which is apparently typical), can be very handler soft, serious defensive dog; he sheds more than her 3 shepherds and 2 malis, bonded to her; but a lover to the ladies, not big on men; but she is single; we say Benz needs a cigarette in a holder and a smoking jacket; he's that sophisticated. Intense dogs when they are on; he'd bite for real; he's also not driven; not dog aggressive; doesn't like dogs in his face; but has a long fuse so you can tell him to leave it. He was the go-to dog when we took our 10 hour trip to Kentucky; he protected us.

Fleetwood is 10 months old now, so I'll tell you about my experience with my first Beauce. Not a dog for everyone, for sure!

He's super drivey with the toy. Amazingly intelligent. Learns super quickly, and he's super obedient. Extremely owner oriented (or mommy oriented ) and very easy to handle. Hed let me do Anything to him. No behavior issues in the home, such as housetraining chewing etc. He's high energy, but docile indoors. Excellent off leash. Never reactive, and wonderfully gentle with other animals, especially the cats.

They tend to be a healthy breed, unfortunately Fleetwood seems to be suffering from Panosteitis (common in large dogs, but not in his family) but other than hips, there's not much.

He has been so heavily socialized it's almost ridiculous. He has gone somewhere decently populated and met new people literally every day since I've had him. Despite that, he's naturally reserved, quite so with men. He doesn't trust men right off the bat, but he tends to take to women right away. Once he's met somebody once, he doesn't forget them. The breeders dogs were confident and greeted both my dad and I with no reservation.

With dogs, he began showing DA issues since 11 weeks old. He appears to just be selective and/or fearful with new dogs that he meets (never reactive), but gets along well with established friends. The breeders dogs were stable, and regularly attend the dog park.

Unfortunately, this ailment is kicking his butt, and he suffers a lot of bad days where his temperament reflects that. But all in all, he's an awesome companion (and he excels at RallyO so far), and I'd love to have another!

Oops... Going back to your first post... I realized you asked these two questions. His coat is double coated, not long and fluffy like a shepherd. Similar to that of a rottie. He sheds heavily but quickly during shedding seasons, but low maintenance the rest of the year.

He is not very tolerant of the heat, but is very tolerant of the cold. It could be that he was a winter puppy.

He is easily a very handsome dog, I think his picture in your sig is enough to make me question my loyalty to Spitz breeds,
