Dangerous thread, should be locked and sent to pm.
I don't know why you would want this hidden. This is someone who has contacted forum members about getting dogs from them. Because if that I think any and all abuse issues should be dealt with publicly so the next time she contacts can make the decision knowing all the known concerns.

I am waiting for the vet report. I have nothing to gain by posting this. Other than making sure it doesn't happen to another puppy. As has been said multiple times, the breeders number is on her site, she stated she would talk to anyone about it.

I love your dogs Teal. they're gorgeous and always look in top condition. Lean? Maybe. But the average dog owner keeps their dogs obese from day one... and the poor dogs suffer for it. Working at a pet hotel I saw many puppies go from nice and lean to painfully thin within a couple days, just due to stress and not eating. I'm not excusing the pictures of Bullseye, but I cannot believe that Teal intentionally starved that puppy. He looks happy and beautiful in all of her pictures.

I find it really creepy that 42 pages have been dedicated to bullying and making personal attacks on Teal. When she gets charged with animal cruelty, lmk. Otherwise this to me is simply a case of someone being nosey and a breeder getting defensive and trying to defend their name/dogs by making Teal look bad. :/

Teal, you just can't win with some people. They were berating you in the first place for returning a puppy who didn't suit you... OF COURSE when they find pictures of a skinny puppy it turns into a field day! I love Chaz but it's really redundant and hurtful when a thread turns into a virtual gangbang.
GREAT POST GONZO!

Give me the willies.

I disagree. Something like this should only be made pubic when it has been undeniably proven... Now it is just a slanderous accusation, and we all know how that works. Whether Teal is found innocent or guilty or not, she will always have been accused of something like this, and therefore will always have that mark on her back because it was done publicly. Kind of like that girl in high school who someone accused of sleeping with their boyfriend, who no one knew if she did it or not, but she was still a *****. Find Teal innocent, and she will still be considered a dog abuser. Which is why this should NOT have been done publicly without valid and undeniable PROOF. And investigation shouldn't be done on a public forum to drag someone's name through the mud because everyone here thinks they're some sort of detective. This isn't cute. It's someone's livelihood. But by all means, everyone should continue stomping around without any definite proof and accuse Teal of abusing that dog, because it's just on the Internet, right?

Pictures are pretty undeniable as are vet reports. Jairi was asked to post copies of her vet reports, she declined saying it wasn't worth it. I know if I was ever in her shoes, I would post anything anyone wanted to know.

So ate you saying the breeder lied?

I'll comment when I'm done reading this entire thread, but that one picture made me crack up laughing, so I had to comment immediately. LOL!

I work at a vets where we board. Numerous thin animals don't eat when they're in a strange place. I have never seen any animal (regardless of age) become emaciated in a few days.

While the OP's other dogs look lovely, this is not at all unheard of. I see several clients who have well groomed, shiny indoor dogs and then the ratty looking, dirty and thin outdoor dog. It's really sad and a stark contrast when they bring them in all at once.

To me, this is a fairly damning statement

. It should never be hard to give basic care to an animal, even if you don't particularly like them. The "smallest interactions" shouldn't be considered "hell". With the timeframe listed of when the pup was picked up and when the breeder pics were taken, and the last few pics of the pup before he went back to the breeder, it's pretty obvious that something was afoul.

Sad and shameful.

Whew. What's that ol' saying? "And the truth shall set you free." (compliments of Jim Carey in "Liar, Liar".

I'm going to pull the RVT card for a minute to comment on my opinion of the puppy in the pictures:

The puppy, in the pics taken by Teal, show a malnourished puppy. Not enough is seen to scream "emaciated!", but one can infer that the puppy is not in good condition. The ribs are visible, as is the outline of the spine and hip points. The fur looks to be dry and dull. And while many dogs are good at the "woe is me" eyes, this puppy appears dull.

As for the pictures taken by the breed, upon reclaiming the puppy, in the scoring of a puppy's condition, this puppy is indeed emaciated and malnourished.

And no, you cannot starve a puppy down to that point in just 2 days. Not even a severe case of parvo can take a healthy puppy to that in 2 days. I'm not saying it would take a long time, but you're talking a full 7 days at the very, very least to take a puppy at healthy weight and have it end up so poor on the condition scale.

From a dog owner standpoint:

The puppy was neglected and malnourished physically. And as awful as that is, it doesn't hold a candle to neglecting a dog emotionally/mentally and socially. The early months of a pup's life should be spent with bonding and socialization. Instead, this dog was ignored at best (let's face it - you get a dog. it annoys you. it constantly follows you around. you start yelling at it. you ignore it. you punish it. ......I'm not saying that's what happened in this situation, as only 1 person will ever know the truth, but I've been involved in enough rescue situations, and have heard it from the mouths of the enough previous owners, to know that what I've written is common in a household involving an owner of a dog that doesn't want the dog.)

Dogs can bounce back physically pretty darn well. Emotionally? Some dogs never recover from the abuse and neglect they sustain at an early age. Both are crimes. Disgusting, lazy man's crimes.

All I can say now is that I'm so very glad this Fila was rescued early enough to give it a fighting chance at the life it deserves. No dog deserves a life of neglect and abuse.....and hate.

I have to ask - what do you think the breeder would have to gain by saying she took back a neglected puppy? She wasn't the one who posted the pictures on here and never posted them publicly on her website, so that says to me that she has very little interest in making Teal look bad, when she could have a year ago and didn't.

I don't think saying Teal neglected the puppy would defend her kennel or name. If anything, one could argue that it might put her up for judgement - people might say that she did a poor job looking into a prospective puppy owner, sold to someone who didn't do enough research on the breed if she was turned off with how "clingy" he was, etc. It seems to me that it would have been better in the eyes of critics for her name/kennel if she had just taken back a happy healthy puppy that just wasn't a good fit, no drama.

As a disclaimer, I'm not accusing the breeder of anything I mentioned. I really don't think she is at fault here. Just looking at it from a different prospective as there are certainly people out there who point fingers at breeders first.

If someone has proof that this puppy was starved and neglected, then why hasn't it been brought to the attention of the authorities or someone who can prosecute the perpetrator? Animal abusers need to be arrested, charged, and punished whenever it is possible. Why hasn't this happened to whomever did this to this puppy? Why didn't the breeder do the right thing when she first picked up the puppy, by reporting it? (if it is true that she picked up the puppy in this horrifying condition)
