I don't think crates will work for him. He sounds too much like Rival.
A crate did not work for Rival, he destroyed 3 of them. The large metal Fila size crates, not to mention the cuts on his face from tearing out of them were terrible. The strange thing, since Todd has moved back home with us for a few months. Rival has not had any problems. Thank goodness! And I do have to leave and go grocery shopping and other stuff. I wonder if some dogs are claustrophobic, just like people? Being in a small confined space would make his anxiety worse if he is. Is he allowed to go in/out whenever he wants? I think that may have made the difference for Rival. |

He isnt neutered hes about 3-4. We got him as a rehome where he was a outside dog in March/April. THEY got him when he was found as a stray living near there house swimming in a river and fishing for his own food. He knows how to open a fridge and freezer, tore down my blinds to see out the window in my living room when he was left alone (hence no more living room.) He exhibits SA when my husband leaves so we know he has SA. Im going to make him a vet appt too. We put him back in the bathroom last night when we had to go to target and he didnt do anything. I would think its that too BUT the first incident was in my living room which since I live in a open floor plan is like 400-500 sq feet. My yard is MAYBE a tad bigger but not much LOL. I just wish I knew what was going on that hes fine for awhile then EXPLODES for lack of a better term. (think: when he messed up big in the living room he ate EVERYTHING in my fridge that was not in a bottle, in the bathroom he destroyed the toilet tank top, door trim, door, toilet paper holder; in the yard he went into another yard by pushing the grill near the fence and busting through a gate) Now if only he would use this energy for good.

Todd did get Rival neutered. It may have calmed him down...Maybe that would help Oakley?
Do huge bones the size of Elephants help? Rival does get a lot of bones to chew on since he has been here.

I dont know if I could or not. We have a regular outside door so I dont know how I would put a Oakley sized one in it (we are going to replace it anyway when we leave since the landlord already bought us the door LOL).
He isnt given bones because he has FA too and I dont want to risk him and Walker possibly getting together with a bone out. We have thought about neutering him but since he can compete in tracking in a different venue where he doesnt have to be neutered it went to the wayside.

Jake put a Fila size door in his, so I'd say an Oakley size one wouldn't be a problem as far as fit

That is the same thing Rival did, opened the fridge/freezer and ate everything in it. Including....drinking all of the beer. Never broke a bottle, just took the lid off.
I must say, I have never seen a dog as food driven as Rival is. HE LIVES AND BREATHES FOOD. He has an ocd when it comes to food.

Shiva would have done that gleefully, except we'd already taken the handle off the refrigerator before she came -- to keep Charley's mother from taking everything out of the fridge and putting it in the oven

Surely one of you knows how to use a saw, hammer and screwdriver
![]() Of course, how to keep Bev from using the door might be tricky.
