Default Rimadyl Aggression??

Hello I have a 12 year old Pitbull in great health other than his bad back. He looks un comfortable at times when trying to lay down so my Dr prescribed him Rimadyl. The problem is it makes him very hyper and extremely aggressive to the point where he wont listen to me at all and he starts barking at me at times very intense barks almost scary. He is deaf but he still can read my lips and hand gestures. Long story short, I think Rimadyl is making him very aggressive. Is this common? I tried googling this but only found a few things that wernt too informing. If anyone knows anything let me know if you have time. Have a good night.

Google Carprofen and aggression and you'll get a lot of hits. It is a side effect along with other behavioural problems.

Yep. My Murphy dog gets really tweaked out on Rimadyl and will start fights with other male dogs (which he doesn't normally do). He won't stop either....it's really scary. You should definitely ask your vet for an alternative - mine gave me something different for Murph after his tooth removal a couple months ago and it worked great.

This is one thing about CHazhound that I find priceless. I am so sorry your dog is in pain and I hope you can find something that will give comfort. I am very glad you posted this for all that read it to know.
I bet many dogs have suffered because of this side effect.

So far I have cut his dosage in half and that seems to be working. He looks comfortable and is acting less aggressive. I will update in a week.

Thanks for prompt responses.
