Pug Rescue Network Heartworm Pug Needs Your Prayers

Well, we have a Pug rescued on Sunday. We had her checked over at the vet and found she has the following issues:

• Missing an eye, not sewn shut.
• Currently in heat
• Ear infection
• Hookworm Positive
• Whipworm Positive
• HEARTWORM POSITIVE

This poor little girl is full of energy and very playful. We will taking her in tomorrow, November 17, for a two day treatment procedure.

Please pray for her as this can be pretty tough on the girl. If you can help with her vet costs, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bing,

Cassie is just a doll! Our Jack Russell Terrier Lucy recently went totally blind, and I'm on a blind dog owners email list with close to 1,800 members. I'll post the link to Cassie's story to the list. There are many wonderful people there that have a special love for blind dogs

Just an quick update. We picked up Cassie last night from the vet. She is doing WONDERFUL.

Now she needs to stay inactive for the next three weeks, then a checkup.

I have sad news to report:

Cassie passed away in her sleep last night 11/21/2004 due to complications of Heartworm Treatment. Cassie was only 1-2 years old. She was a very lovable little girl. PLEASE get your dogs tested for Heartworm, it can save their lives.

Cassie, you will always be in our hearts. We miss you and love you very much. We will never forget you. We will miss all the facials you use to give us.

We will continue to educate the public on your behalf.

It breaks my heart to hear the sad news about Cassie After our Lucy went blind in September with SARD's (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration) with the cause unknown.... other than guesses on it being diet, over vaccinating, pesticides in the yard etc. Since her diet was not what I would consider lacking seriously enough to have have caused her blindness, and we don't use yard pesticides... my thought was that Lucy may had been over vaccinated. She did have a severe reaction to her last rabies shot, and the heartworm vaccination she'd had in the past, had just been recalled for health issues (unknown) at just about the same time Lucy was scheduled for re-vaccination. Because of the recall, and Lucy's currect health issues, I had considered just giving up on the heartworm prevention... thinking this might be one that would do Lucy more harm than good! After hearing about what happened to Cassie... I do think I need to look into some other options to protect Lucy from heartworms!

Please know that Cassie has already made a difference in one dog's life! I will now consider heartworm a serious issue with Lucy & Holly!
