There's more than a few hunt packs and breeders in Colorado. Their dogs do great in the cold. |

I'm still pretty sure that if Frodo didn't HATE tall, thin dogs that our next dog would've been a zoi. Definitely a post Frodo breed though :/ As would a greyhound. |

1. Sheltie (next dog will probably be another one)
2. Border Collie (not having another one of these for quite some time, this one's enough for now) 3. Samoyed 4. Icelandic Sheepdog 5. Welsh Springer Spaniel 6. Papillon 7. Silken Windhound 8. Mix of some sort ![]() Most likely will stick to Shelties and a token BC for now, might consider others later on.

I tried. I also tried to convince him that since we have so many coyotes around here we NEED a borzoi, he didn't fall for it. I did get him to admit that Magyar agar's are nice looking sighthounds, so I'll call that progress.

No particular order here, as next dog is a year down the road at earliest.
Borzoi Golden Aussie (between Sawyer and pics of Merlin and Journey I am screwed) Flat coat? Maybe? I need to meet some. Rough Collie - again with the maybe. Doodle mix? If that counts as a breed or a type. I am still in love with Dobes, but that's not happening. I think this is it for my list. I want 50± pounds, longhaired with single coats preferred. My problem is that I don't want a puppy. Most of these breeds require me to go to a breeder and get a puppy. DO NOT WANT. I also don't dig barky dogs, and two of those breeds are typically (but not always) barky. I don't want drool or shedding, and that's just not going to happen, so I'm going to go with a longhair so that the fur at least comes off easily. I think I just need a stuffed animal for my next dog. I'm turning into one of those people who thinks they want a dog but don't really. The problem is that stuffed animals can't go on walks or hikes, don't keep me warm at night, and don't love me unconditionally.

Older puppies (1-2 years) and adults from breeders are very attainable. A lot of breeders have dogs to place but don't advertise because they're just kind of waiting for the perfect home to show up. We just placed one of Kaia's older puppies with a new family because the brittany spaniel in her original home got increasingly snarky, to the point where it was trying to start serious dog fights with her.

Here's my list from April 2011:
Quote:
1) English Shepherd 2) Doberman Pinscher 3) Bernese Mountain Dog 4) German Shepherd Dog 5) Cardigan Welsh Corgi 6) Papillon 7) Whippet or LHW 8) Standard Poodle 9) Welsh Springer Spaniel 10) Australian Shepherd So fairly similar, but a couple differences. I'll probably never have a Spinone, a Vizsla is only a vague maybe now, and I've added a few more "pet" breeds. also kind of funny that I mentioned the red/liver thing, since I now have a liver dog in addition to my red dog
