It's what the breeds have to go to so that they can eventually be good enough () to be considered AKC registrable

FSS is the beginning to getting a breed AKC registered. AKC maintains their records as their breed pool grows, and eventually they become AKC registerable.

but it says that FSS breeds CANNOT be AKC registered LOL right on the site....

(thats why Im so confused) lol

It doesn't mean they never can be, it just means that FSS breeds aren't the same thing as AKC breeds.

Foundation Stock Service Program

Breeds go from FSS to Miscellaneous Class to Full AKC recognition.

They can't be registered YET because they aren't an AKC approved breed. They are in the process of becoming AKC registrable and in the future they will be able to be registered. But as it stands now they are not eligible
