Akita Inu's in South Africa? Japanese NOT American.

Anyone know of ANY JAPANESE Akita Inu dogs in South Africa? I have searched the KUSA website and all I really stumble into is the American Akita.

It's more out of curiousity than it is to actually purchase one, but I would really love to know if there are any Japanese Akitas in SA, or even better yet, a breeder of Japanese Akitas, and YES there is a difference between the two, just to clarify

No idea. You might try trawling the local shows. I saw an Akita at the Oriental Specialty show in October last year.

There are American Akitas that I know are definitely in South Africa. There is a breeder of American Akitas here, the Japanese version is harder to come by because of the much stricter breed standard I THINK and also because they were almost close to being non existant

It is a breed I am seriously interested in and keep meaning to learn more about them. Unfortunately, with all on my plate right now, I don't have the time. They are seriously cool dogs!

Have researched them, they are awesome dogs, but not for a beginner apparently. They are stubborn in training according to some websites... and probably as protective as my Rotties. Websites say they are aggressive but they say that about Rotties as well and I know by now it means protective :P
