Tynan has not been eating for at least 3 days now. This is very strange as he is the type of dog that always ate all his food. He has eaten a very little amount, not even a full bowls worth all week-end. He is now 9 months old.
Has anyone ever had this happen with a growing pup?

No, and I'd be talking to the vet
That doesn't sound good. How is his elimination?

Does he take treats (high value)? Maybe I have bad luck with puppies, I have had several go off their food here and there (even my adults do it). If everything else was still normal (no change in behavior, activity level, normal breathing/pulse, normal drinking, etc.), I learned not to panic, and I have dogs who have contests to see who can finish first. NOT saying I don't recommend vet advice, because I would consult with them, but IME, it's not all that unusual.

I don't know what you feed, if it's plain kibble, I would try to mix in canned, yogurt, baby food, etc. . . I like to keep NutriCal on hand too.
Reminds me of when my friend's puppy would not eat when she brought him home (9/10ish weeks?). She tried everything, he just was way too busy doing other things. Vet could not find anything wrong, eventually she just force fed him and thankfully he learned food = good (for my friend's sanity, lol). . . but it was horrible because he was acting like a typical puppy, but would not eat more than 3 pieces of kibble and refused treats. |

Three days of not eating - I'd be going to the vet.

I'm going to add some yogurt to his food tonight and see if he eats. The yogurt wouldn't upset his stomach more? (if that's what's bothering him, I don't know yet) If still nothing I will make an appointment.

Even if he is acting his normal self there could be something wrong with him.
I would take him to the vet personally. |
