Heres a boxer sketch I did today. I erased and redrew the front legs so many times I'm suprised my paper didn't fall apart. Overall I'm rather pleased with it. I do think the feet are too small though. Also I was wanting him to be on his back looking playful instead he looks more like he just got hit by a truck.

YOur coming along nicely! If you can it would help you totally to look at a skeleton of a dog. I cannot tell you how many times i have drawn the ever present skeleton in all life drawing classes. I always study bones when i get the chance. IF you think of the idea that they walk on their toes and their heel is actually the hock it will help. I certainly got playfulness from your drawing
vivian that is a sweetie and your right i did miss your one before. SOrrrrries for me because it is such a well structured drawing. A lot of people have troubles with the placement of the back legs. You did a great job

This is a yorkie I did today. Since I seem to be no good at drawing legs and feet I decided to do some dogs where it wouldn't be an issue. Thus the maltese and bearded collie in my other thread and the yorkie here. Pay no attention to my pencil shading, it's just for reference for when I start coloring so I'll remember which way I wanted the hair to go. I wrote in basic colors too so I wouldn't forget.

ahh dont avoid the legs, tomorrow i will make you a little sketch of how the bones work and then it will be tres easier for you to see. I like your little yorkie all the same.
One of my earliest memories of my father is when i took him a drawing i did of a horse and he took his red pencil out of his pocket and circled the joint where i had the leg bending in a way a horse's leg doesn't go. He handed it back to me and said.. it doesn't go like that. I had to figure out how, and it took me a couple years to understand horses and cows for they were so different from cats and dogs. Look for me tomorrow for it won't take long to show you what i am talking about.
