Unhappy Mack: Live fast, die young, and have a nice looking corpse

Well I can't really find a way to make this thread nice. The guy that had Mack called me today and told me he was brought to the animal shelter (which is a kill shelter). His wife and child are so scared of him that he had to be crated for 4 days straight while the man was off on business and the neighbors had to come and let him out because the wife wouldn't touch him. When I called the shelter they said they didn't think he had much of a chance of adoption because of his issues. I feel so bad but we can't take him back and from what the guy said his temperment was getting more and more unstable. Anyway, I'm going to keep calling the shelter to see what they say about him after temperment tests and all but I don't think he'll make it out of there alive .

yeah but he just figured Mack had some issues that an inexperienced nondominant owner like me couldn't handle and figured he could fix them. Mack obviously was a badly bred dog, living in the crate was not a life for Mack and that was the only option this guy had because of how fearful his wife and daughter were of him.

I haven't been on in a while so I don't know this situation so if this is a repeat sorry. Have you tried rescue groups, especially bread specfic. They sometimes will work w/ hard luck case and/or send them for some training. We work w/ a rescue that takes does out of a high kill shelter. Many issues are dealable but sometimes we do find ones that we are unable to help.
It just really makes me sad, it's not their fault. Let us know a what happens.

I'm so sorry Julie. But I have to say, I have been in that situation. It's heartbreaking, but sometimes there's nothing you can do. If Mack was a horrible case of bad breeding, there's nothing much you could do. (((hugs))))

I have been in contact with no kill shelters and breed rescues and noone can take him. They are all "full". I explain the situation and all of a sudden they are unable to help. It isn't Mack's fault, it was the breeders fault he had no socialization up until we got him at 7 months and he had only been outside twice (that's including to go potty too) that whole time the breeders had him. He should have had his puppy shots and rabies shots completed at the age he was and they had given him ONE distemper shot the whole time they had him. I just feel like I let him down, I was suppose to take care of him and keep him safe and I failed. I hope SOMETHING can be done with him at that shelter.

is Mack the same dog that ran away and the mother and her kids found him..

If it is, that situation didn't last very long.. why did he turn so fast on them, I thought he was fitting in really well?! Thats too bad. Maybe he has something mentally wrong with him that he just can't help??
