Default thought you should know..

Rogue is going in to the vet to be pts this week. Most likely Friday, but possibly Wednesday, depending on when I can get an appointment.
He is suffering, and it really is apparent. I think this needed to be done a month ago, but I was selfish and kept trying everything I could to keep him alive, because *I* was not ready to say goodbye. Every time I think about it, I start to cry, and that day is going to be the hardest day of my life. But, I know I have to do what is best for him. When a pet cannot walk for more than 2 minutes without flopping down to breathe, or when he has to sleep on the hard as opposed to the bed so he can breathe, and cannot get a goodnight sleep and get comfortable, it is time.

This is all possible to an amazing member on chaz They had read my other thread, and promptly sent me a message telling me they will send the money. As payback, the ferret rescue will be getting a matching donation in Rogue's honour, when I have the money.

Jess, I'm really sorry - but I am glad you're making the best decision for Rogue. You've said all there is to say already, so all I've got are (((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))) ))

Thanks guys <3
I really believe that Rogue was meant to come to me for a reason. Even in the short time he has been with me personally, he has taught me so much, and made such an impact in my life, and I can only hope I have made half the impact on him.

I am really worried about Renegade.. he has NEVER been without Rogue since his previous owner brought Renegade home. When Rogue was seperated from Ren and Rascal for a week... I could tell the change in Ren, and he was trying so hard to get back with Rogue.

Oh, I'm so sorry. But I agree, it's for the best, and the right decision.

So sorry you have to do this. It's the personalities packaged into our pets no matter the size or type of animal that give us so much happiness and unfortunately the pain when we have to say goodbye. You are doing what is best for the creature you care about.

I'm so sorry Jess

I'm glad you are able to help put him to rest, and hope you take some comfort in knowing you did everything you could. Enjoy your last few days with him and spoil him rotten. As for Renegade, make sure you spend a lot of extra time with him and watch him close for depression (make sure he continues to eat and drink enough). Some suggest letting the other half of a bonded pair sniff their friend after they have passed so they will understand that they won't be coming back. I asked my vet about this and he says it makes no difference, but that's up to you to decide. Munky (RIP) and Pipsqueak were very close. They had been together practically their whole lives (6 years) and always slept together. I had to say goodbye to Munky in March and Pips was not at the vet with us. I chose not to bring the body home and Pips actually did fine. He hasn't buddied up with the others at all, but he doesn't seem to be having any trouble coping.

On a side note have you checked into other exotic vets in your area? I don't know if I'm just spoiled by my vet but I find it a little odd that they can't squeeze you in if he's suffering and needs to be put down. I get them not extending credit to you if you haven't been going there a while, but at my vet I can walk in without an appointment and they'll get me in (probably because they know I'll sit there all day). I have been going there 3 years now though, so that may be why they are so good to me.
