Josie The Wonderdog loves these "Hollywood Stars Liver Treats". I can buy them locally, but they seem unavailable online, and I can't find out about them online as well. They are sold at local Kroger stores, and I chose them because of my (uneducated) perusing of the ingredients, the fact that they are soft and livery, and inexpensive. They come in a 4 oz "milk carton" package. Bil Jac seems to have asimilar product, but their web sit does not offer an ingredient list. Here's what the package says:
"*Hollywood Stars* Liver Treats ...marketing rant about movie trainers using them... Guaranteed Analysis: Crude Protein, not less than 25%, Crude Fat, not less than 9%, Crude Fiber, not more than 2%, Moisture, not more than 30%. Ingredients: Chicken liver, chicken, chicken by-product meal, corn, chicken fat, glycerin, high fructose corn syrup, propylene glycol, wheat flour, phosphoric acid, salt, citric acid, and potassium sorbate and BHA and calcium propionate(preservatives), iron oxide. JRB Foods Box 554 Sharon Center, OH 44274 800-463-1978" The only thing in that list I'm not familiar with is BHA. WTH is that? FWIW these treats are great in a Kong or puzzle ball and she loves 'em. Are they o.k.? They aren't expensive or contain "free-range organic compassionatly dispatched non-instrusive poultry based non-guilt inducing flesh replacements". ![]() P.S. I ate one about an hour ago...it tasted like something a dog would like, it didn't make me sick or anything, but I won't be eating them on a Triscuit anytime soon. Then again, I can't lick my own nether-regions and tend to NOT eat cat turds either, so what do I know?

Yeegawds! Now that I've quit laughing enough to keyboard (with the help of Shiva's big snoot), I can't remember exactly what BHA is - once upon a time in the body building days I kept rigid track of all that stuff, but it is a preservative or some other agent of that sort used in all sorts of processed human food.
I've got two, no, make that three, questions: One, do the Hollywood Stars really eat these things, maybe on canapes with a dollop of wasabi infused cream cheese?; Two, or are they Hollywood Stars' liver???, and Three, do you suggest an accompaniment of Stout or IPA? In the case of an affirmative to question two, I'd stop giving them to her immediately; you never know what kind of toxic stuff has accumulated in a Hollywood Star's liver.

I've bought that stuff once. Bishop seemed to like them a lot, but I don't know if they are any good.

Thanks, Serena. I usually try to avoid BHA, even though I couldn't remember exactly what it was. It's in all kinds of "food" - human and pet. Amazing what the FDA allows, hmmm?
