Meg is such a good sport
At our trial last weekend, we had some serious ups and downs. The biggest "downs" were a result of weave pole spacing; we've been training on 24" lately, and the ones at the trial were, depending on who you asked, somewhere between 18.5" and 20". A lot of dogs were having serious issues with them. Meg did sort of okay in her first couple classes, hitting them as hard and fast as she ever does, but you could see her just about wrapping herself in knots trying to get through. By Sunday, she was just plain saying no. Hitting her entry, getting a pole or two, then bumping herself on the poles and stopping dead. We will certainly make a point to try and find out what size poles trials are using before we go from now on, and will train on 20" a couple times before any trials (that was my mistake not to this time).
Anyway, I love this shot from one of our first classes on Saturday. Even from this angle, you can see she's sort of compressing her body to try and get through the poles, and is doing a lot more sideways than forward. Agreed with everyone else, those spaces look tiny!
 I would also avoid trials with poles like that - I can't imagine that being very good for the dogs from a medical standpoint.
