They dont have a network they have a form you can give your vet and they will send the money to them.

WHen you dont always have the money to cover something that can go wrong and HAVE a dog hitting the senior years that is all of the sudden needing vet care every month or two it helps. I know if he DOES get majorly sick he will be cared for.

I've had Trupanion for my lil guy for almost a year now and have been really happy with them. I like that they are the only company that doesn't increase your premium every year that your pet ages and that they cover 90% of vet bills. I've had to file two claims already and they reimbursed me within 3-4 days. THey also dont have any benefit schedule things like other companies and you can even choose a $0. pretty helpful.

They cover stuff like vet bills, meds, surgeries, diagnostic tests, hereditary stuff, hip dysplasia and you can go to any vet you want.

Just make sure to shop around and compare policies and prices to make sure you are getting the best deal for your dog breed.

My vet bills are no way close to almost $400 a year . Still ,for peace of mind , it's worth it for some .

For his Colitis we spent 300 dollars and just for a visit here is 50 bucks.

Looked into insurance, never got it. Really just looked into it for the ferrets, but really would only be able to get it for Renegade since 2 have pre-existing (eventually fatal) conditions.

I know I dont *if i did i would be worried since both are from shelters/rescues and are males LMAO*

but figured i would through that out there for anyone else. i thought it was rather weird and unusual.

The only thing for him that wouldnt be covered is his colitis but that is taken care of anyway.

Have you thought about just saving a little from each pay check for vet stuff? Instead of buying insurance. I know it's becoming more popular to just save a little each month.

Yes we do that but at the rate he is having these visits we cant save enough to cover them over and over. Plus we just found out some news that makes it almost impossible to continue putting money aside.

I am with you on that Breeze. Having insurance is like forced savings. If I put away the R300 every month that my premiums are, I will need 12 months to save towards what we spend on them every 3 to 4 months. Paul feels that I take them to the vet too much but I am not the kind of person who is willing to let them feel ill. Lilly and Travis were in this month for colitis and it ended up at R1200 for the two of them. If we had the insurance, it would have been R180. That is a MASSIVE saving.

Lilly cannot be on Petsure because of a pre-existing condition and I won't get caught with Travis and Riley, so they got chipped last night and they are on the plan as of next month. It will also cover Riley for pregnancy at a later stage. All in all, a total win.
