In the US if you have a pup over 3 months, you're supposed to declare it to your county and get a license. Here, it's $8 a year, $6 if your dog is neutered. You can also get a lifetime license for $40 or so I believe.

I think most of the benefits from it go to pet shelters, humane society etc.

I dont know about dog tax, but in Canada you need a dog lisence and cat lisence...

For fixed dogs its $15/year and for intact animals its $40/year.

Cats its less expensive.

I think its sort of stupid. Maybe if the dog is a show quality and IN CKC shows they should lessen it because you CAN NOT have a fixed dog show in the Confirmation ring...

I think that is a good way to spend the money for the dog shelters because
a lot of people are buying a pup and after he bite into everything they don't want him anymore. They are doing a good job.

It is good that people with cats have to pay too I think, What kind of dog you have there it's nice looking. Is it a Terveuren or Malinois maybe German shepherd?

I wish there was a more established tax in Indiana . When I lived in a very small community , I always gladly paid a dog tax... Now that I've moved to Indy, I doubt if anyone does. I may look into it , as I feel it would educate people more and bring money into the Humane Soc. I think back then I paid about 5 a year for un fixed and 2 for fixed. Would wake people up !! Should this be my new cause ???
