Yesterday a pipe burst in my moms basement and so a plumber was called. I wasent there all day and just hoped that my mom and brother would keep an eye out for them. But I know it was hectic here and understand how someone could have slipped outside.
Unfortunately it was Quincy my Persian who is not in the best health at the moment. No one had any idea he had gotten out (because he is a hider when strangers, like the plumber is in the house). And then last night I went to let the dogs out back and before I had a chance to think twice about it I let the dogs out and noticed a white long haired thing go scampering off the porch and across the yard. I walked around forever calling to him and shaking his food bag. But it was dark and he wasent coming to me. I think the dogs spooked him. So I left food on the back porch and kept checking every hour or so for him until about 4am. I am worried about him because he is declawed (No I did not have him declawed his previous owner did). My sister lives two houses down and she is on the lookout for him. Anouther worry is that someone might steal him. Since he is a silver and white persian. If someone saw a purebred cat walking the streets I know in this area they are more likely to take it, instead of try and find its owner. He is also a strictly indoor cat. So Chaz vibes would be great. My only comfort is that its spring and warmer. A couple weeks ago he would have frozen to death. My three other cats are still here. And I know for a fact he isn't just well hidden in the house. He would have come down to the basement for dinner like always.

Sorry to hear about Quincy, and I hope you find him soon!
Last year I found a GORGEOUS seal point Siamese in the parking lot at Dillon's, and when I scanned him for a chip fortunately he had one, and the owners were there the next day to get him. He was missing for months. When I find a purebred cat I assume it has an owner and slipped out, hopefully if someone else finds Quincy they'll think the same thing and try to find you.

Sending 'go home' vibes to Quincy! We had an indoor cat get out and it took six weeks of searching, papering the surrounding area with Lost Cat flyers and signs before we got her back (she came home on her own after wandering over a mile away). She was extremely shy so we weren't too worried about her being picked up. The flyers kept her on the neighborhood radar and we would get calls from people saying they'd spotted her. After she got home, we posted big signs letting everyone know (and got a few calls from people who were happy to know she made it home safely).
According to 'experts', cats rarely wander more than a mile radius from their homes and it's best to ask the neighborhood children to keep an eye out since they're more likely to be outside playing (or at least, they used to...)

Put his litter box outside and A few articles of your clothing.
Look for his after dark and early morning. It will be more likely to find him at these hours because it quieter out. At night shine a flashlight around and look for glowing eyes. GOOD LUCK! Hope he comes back SOON!

Thanks for all the tips and good vibes everyone. Unfortunately he is still missing. I went out to the garage and called him but he didn't meow back like he usually does or come running. My nephews and I walked up and down the street asking if anyone had seen him. But no one has. Im hoping he shows up this evening. I have food, water, and his litter box waiting for him on the back porch.
I feel so guilty . Even though I was gone. I am playing the "what if?" game with myself. I wish I had been here. I hope he shows up .
