Here's my rescued dog, Dexter. He should be about a year and a half and around 80 pounds or so. Extremely energetic. Gets along great with kids and women (deeply scared of men, but he was really traumatized when I got him). Not an ounce of aggressivity in him and adores other dogs.
I've had a few people guess about what could be in his mix, but I rarely get the same answers. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thank you to those playing the guessing game. I've heard so many things from different people and I'm really curious. |

Most people who tried guessing mentioned a part of Malamute. Husky seems to be fairly recurrent too. I've only heard Samoyed from one vet, which seems weird to me since it seems to be an obvious part of his mix (I know nothing about dogs though...Dexter is my first one).
I've also heard more than once he could have some Golden Retriever in him because of some colored spots (mostly around his ears). Even heard he could have some wolf in his mix (we are in a northern community and he was a wild dog before I got him) because of a really distinct v shape in his fur on his back. |

the size is whats throwing me. Here in Socal we have chow mixes that look like that all day long...but not that large.

Here's the only picture I have of him before he was given to me. He was then slowly getting out from under a balcony where he hid for a month with his two brothers. His brothers don't look like him at all though, which might make breeds even trickier to guess?

Holy cow! What an awesome looking boy Dexter is! The second pic had me saying Malamute mix, with the third one I added Great Pyr, the next one I saw some Samoyed. So, as odd as it sounds, I'll guess Mal/Pyr/Sammie. There's something about the last picture that reminds me of our grand dog, Maggie. I think it's his face. She's supposedly a Siberian/Lab mix.

![]() the others look black? Black is a really common "default" color when you mix breeds, so its not a surprise. |
