Default Nikon D40 vs D60

What's the difference? Is one better than the other?

I was just looking around at ebay at lenses for my D40 and noticed that the D60 camera is a lot cheaper than the D40, any reason why?

The D60 is technically better, but not by much. It's a smidge larger, and has 10.2 megapixels versus 6.1 which hardly matters unless you are looking to print very large prints. (Even then I've heard of 24 x 36" prints from a D40 if done correctly). I'm sure there are other small feature differences, but nothing spectacularly different IMO.

Strange you saw the D40 higher priced, as historically its been the other way around. IMO, though, if you are considering the two is to pick the one that has the best "feel" to it, as they are very similar.

They should feel exactly the same, not just similar. They're the same camera body. Obviously the D60 has the extra pixels, but they're crammed on the same size sensor as the D40. I've heard complaints of the D60 producing a lot of noise at higher ISOs, which after seeing some pictures my friend has taken with his, seems to hold true. The D60 is just a D40x with a new name and a few new features.

The D40 has been discontinued for a little while now, so I'm not sure why it would be more expensive. That doesn't really seem to make any sense, lol.

Yes the D60 produces a lot of noise at high ISOs, I can attest to that. Drives me crazy lol.
