Default Is she pregnant!!??

I just brought home a new foster dog, and I think she might be pregnant.
her belly is pretty big, and it is really hard. she is not pear shaped or sticking out on her sides though.

I took a pic, but you cannot tell much by looking at the pic.

and this stage, when she is not really showing but does have a hard belly how far along do you think she would be. and remind me, how long are the pregnant for. i cannot have a foster dog and a litter of pups! I might have to return her if she ends up pregnant AND a long term foster.

Generally, 62 days is the norm for pregnancies.

I can't help you any more, but I suggest a vet visit if you really think she's pregnant.

Is she otherwise acting normal? Did she go to the vet recently?

honestly the shelter didnt tell me squat about her.
they just said "here ya go, her name is Nicole"

I think i will email the shelter and request her being taken to the vet and see if she is preggers. I do not think she is vetted... but I really dont know!

easiest way to get an idea...
feel around, feel any lumps and bumps any moving?

if shes not yet been vet checked i would demand her checked anway, you have other dogs and best to be safe, have the vet palipitate and if the vet things preggers get xrays.

she could just be a big girl.

Thanks Foxy.

I dont think they vet check the dogs before they go to foster.
But i did speak with my vet about it, and she doesnt think its a big deal since my dogs are UTD on all shots, are wormed regularly, come for yearly visits, and even have the bortitella (sp) shots

I might be wrong, they might vet check the dogs... how else would they had known my last foster had advanced heartworms!

Heck, who knows....

i sent them an email asking about her being preggers or not. i will keep you updated.

My dog Nanook was pregnant when I got her from the pound. Her belly was large and distended, despite the fact that the rest of her was very thin, and her nipples swelled and kind of popped. I got her in for a spay/abort as soon as she got over her kennel cough. The recovery was a little worse, but she wasn't far enough along to make it super risky. There are just so many homeless dogs and puppies, I didn't want to bring another litter into the city. If you can bring in your foster dog and she is pregnant, maybe they'll agree to spay her before it's too late.

I was going to say they don't have to be huge to feel them kick.

I dont feel any kicks or bumps. I am thinking i might be a little paranoid. She went outside and took a HUGE hard crap. and how her belly isnt nearly as tight.
