My name's Mark and i'm from Northern Ireland but i'm sure you're all more interested in seeing and reading about my wee friend..... Bertie aka 'The Child'

Bertie is an 11 (approx) year old black lab/border collie cross, we got him from a rescue shelter 9 years ago. He had been abused and was found wandering the streets with his sister (who had already been rehomed), he has a small patch of eczema on his back but is otherwise fine. Our family was used to having Bichons and Poodles so it took a while to adjust to having a dog with so much energy and strength.
Bertie is the most affectionate and gentle dog i've ever seen, just a big softy who has really helped me get through some difficult times. I think his favourite hobby has to be peeing, his back leg is constantly up and he'll run across a field just to pee on a single flower. Now in his old age he can't do the 4-5 mile walks we used to do but he's still very spritely for an old guy as long as he can laze about on his bed when we get back.

I've been looking for a dog forum for a while and am looking forward to reading about all of your canine children.
