Default valerian root?

Has anyone ever tried this? I saw it in the supplement/vitamin isle and figured I'd give it a whirl. It's suppose to help with stress, insomnia, head aches... and I forget what else.

Vitamins smell pretty bad, but these supplements are the WORST smelling pills I've ever smelled. They smell like someone crapped in a jar and put the lid on...ewwww. It gags me just to get them down and the smell lingers on your hands. I'm terrified to burp after I've taken them.

But, I've taken them twice so far and both times I actually slept all night. It might be a coincidence... but maybe they really do work.

My dad takes them for anxiety, they really help him sleep better. Beyond that I don't have any experience with them. Glad they seem to be helping!

I take them from time to time because I have insomnia.

BUT if you take ANY other medications please check with your doctor!, both can have some fairly nasty medication interactions.

the only medications I take on a daily basis are estradial for my hormone replacement and requip for my restlessness. Other than that... I don't really take any medication on a regular basis besides motrin or excedrin.

I'm just so excited that it really seems to be working for me. I drifted off to sleep shortly after I took it last night. And it's a nice peaceful sleep. I just woke up a few minutes ago to breakfast in bed and I actually feel refreshed.

Valerian works well and I've taken melatonin for insomnia a few times as well.

Hmm, I might have to give this a try. I've been having lots of issues getting to sleep and then staying asleep.

However, I probably need to check with my PCP since I take thyroid medicine and it seems to interact with everything.
