Default im going to go pick up some ducklings

got a call from a friend...
2 baby ducklings need a good home... (about 2 weeks old) they were dumped in the cold, and are lucky to be alive.

my sisters frined has a farm with 11 pekins...
and her family are more than happy to take these babies (likely pekin x cresteds) one of the babies has a fuzzy top (crested) and theyve agreed i can name him or her einstein!

so yeah goonna take a drive out and pick them up for her, will try and get som pictures before she takes them home :P
there too cute at this point all yellow and fluffy!

im so excited and i dont even get to keep them, im sucha freek!

awww...thank goodness someone found them. my hubby had 2 pet ducks when he was a kid...Peaches and Pineapple. from teeny to pretty old ducks, and they used to follow him around like a dog would.

We had ducks before. We have also had chickens. The last one left out of the twelve we had was a white one. Her name was CDC. Stood for Carnivistic Dog Chicken. The name stands for itself. She ATE my pizza once! She would come into the house too, we liked her a lot.

Good luck with the cute yellow fuzballs!

well there adorable, and noisy.
they LOVE charlie dog so im thinking they may have been around medium sized dogs before, there not afried of the little ones, but not as comfortable around them.

the cat is incredibly curious but for obivous reasons is on a strict no duck diet :P

they are quite loud for tiny little fuzballs lol, plenty of peeping.

one is a definate crested its the smaller of the 2 and theres a very nice tuft, the other is quite large, none crested and im thinking its a male and female.
they dont mind being handled...though its obvious theyd much rather be running round...
and they honestly look to be in pretty good shape.

my sisters frined is comming over soon to take them home where they will be spoilt and once old enough (probably in the spring) they will join the 11 other pekins.
the crested is definatly einstein, the big one is likely going to be called Aflack...
my sister calls her friends the aflac ducks (same breed as used in the comercials) so hey why not have a duck named aflack.

they are definatly too cute and im not realy a duck person (i prefer geese!) and all except rosie LOVE them...
jasper has decided their his quack quacks and must be protected at all costs, right now hes sat infront of the box and yells at the cat anytime it comes neer...
ruby has decieded she wants to be a mommy and goes over and licks their beaks once in awhile (ive got them in a big tuppertote with a towel over half infront of the fire as i dont have a heat lamp right now)
they seem to be growing more interested in her.
charlie things there fun...
what he would do if he could chase them round, i dont know...(hes usually very mushy) but they also make peep peep sounds, sne generally things with squeakers must first be scilenced...
he LOVES how they smell though and they run up to the side whenever he walks past peeping at him and hell stick his big hairy head in, get a good sniff then wag his tail and bounce off to get a toy.

this is deifnatly "interesting"
but a good experience for all, mums planning for a pair of goslings in the spring and they will spend their early weeks in the house and they and the dogs MUST get used to eachother...

plus if i do get my farm, jasper and ruby are going to be exposed to animals like these regularly.
wonder if i can teach jasper to heard ducks?!

lol.

i did snap a couple of pictures but havent had the chance to put them on the computer yet, will show you all later this evening i promise!

great news, their new "mommy" LOVES them, they will shortly be taken to their new home where they will have a 4x4 pen and a heat lamp to run around and snuggle in.

bad news.
mum and sister are in love...i keep reminding them, babies in SPRING! dad would never let us have geese in the house once there big enough to be outside lol
