Default Best Friends Animals Society connected to a cult?

I am a big fan of the many podcast found at Howstuffworks.com. I stumbled across this one
http://podcasts.howstuffworks.com/hs...iller-cult.m4v

In this podcast it says that the Best Friends Animal Society (Dogtown) was started by a cult called the Process Church.

Has anyone ever heard of this before? I have given money to this group...did I get taken?

I think Best Friends is a cult in itself.

I would agree.

The word "cult" doesn't have to mean something "evil" or "bad" though, it's just been used in relation to "devil worship" for so long that we THINK something evil when we hear the word LOL

2 : a system of religious beliefs and ritual; also : its body of adherents
3 : a religion regarded as unorthodox or spurious; also : its body of adherents
4 : a system for the cure of disease based on dogma set forth by its promulgator <health cults>
5 a : great devotion to a person, idea, object, movement, or work (as a film or book); especially : such devotion regarded as a literary or intellectual fad

Seems like we chazzers could be a "cult" of dog lovers no? LOL

Defined that way there would be a lot of things that could be a cult.

Exactly And that is why the media can slap that word on nearly anyone they want and get away with it

Not defending Best Friends, because I know nothing more than what I've read here, and seen on their Dogtown show. They very well COULD be some crazy "cult" for all I know.
