DOgs vs cats

I opened the door and let Sancho have his first good look at VIctor. I am sitting between them and have my hand on Sancho's back. Victor stood in the doorway like a gentleman. Sancho opened his lion mouth and said hiiiiiissssss but then he closed it and looked again. Victor just stood there, wag wag. I said Go now and he turned around and left. Sancho looked at me...it brought back a memory of how Eddie used the dogs to watch his back. He would get in some skirmish and head for my yard yowling at the top of his lungs. I knew exactly what he was saying. It was SEND THE DOGS!" which i would. THey would chase whatever problem it was off the property. Eddie would sit so smug on the wall by the house. I think Sancho has known good dogs in the past. HE wasn't overly alarmed, he sent a warning but he didn't tense up. Step one.

THey are still in seperate rooms and will be until Sancho himself feels like coming out. He is more comfortable right now with the door shut which is fine. Hyia says he snags her jeans when she starts to leave the room. SHe says he is dragging her back.

Sounds like a good step to me too

You can usually tell when certain cats totally hate dogs and will not budge on the issue, LOL. There are cats all over our 'hood, some will come right up on the porch with our front door open (we have a glass storm door that is closed) and sit in front of the glass. The dogs can bark, jump at, and stick their nose on the glass and the cats don't do more than twitch a whisker..........obviously, dogs don't worry them, LOL

Others will attempt the porch and one bark puts them into "Halloween Cat" position........back arched, claws out, hissing and spitting mad, LOL.........ya, those cats have either been chased by one too many dogs, or just REALLY don't like them naturally!

Victor is however protesting to that cat getting canned food when he is stuck eating kibble. He says "what's up with that?"

We will do a Pepper introduction the same way this evening. I have put the dogs in my bedroom and let him see the house, he was more comfortable her her room. I wanted him to have an idea of the lay of the land. I am calling him Big Daddy Sancho or Hyia's lion.
