What could he be?

Anyone have any guesses?
Height: I am 6"0 and he comes up to my knee.
Weight: I would say under 20, he is very slim and muscular
Fur: Very short, almost dobe like.
He loves to run and can jump almost anything.

Some type of cur or cur-mix? Some of his features are very similar to Meg's, and I believe Texas is pretty well populated with them.
