Default Sonja's Heartworm Update

As it turns out, as of early this week, Sonja (my foster) is heartworm free!!! She made it through this long and boring treatment with flying colours. I spoke to the vet and starting on the 2nd of November, I can start to increase her exercise levels.....meaning very soon I can play fetch with her again. Just in case any of you don't know, Sonja lives for a long game of fetch with her beloved kong. She will begin to join the rest of the pack for our long walks too.

I am so excited for Sonja.

Good for Sonja. I have talked to some people that do not give their dog heartworm preventive meds year round. They just give the preventive meds in all the seasons except for winter. Does anyone else do the same. Lola gets hers year round. I'd rather spend about $36 a year as opposed to having her have heartworm and then having to deal with the bigger expense and maybe it costing her life.
