Puppy Food Suggestions?
Hi everyone, I just adopted an Australian Shepherd puppy. It's been going on five years now since I've had a pup and was wondering if anyone could suggest a good kibble? I plan to feed a combination of raw and kibble. I do this with my adult dog and she does very well on it. I feed her EVO but it's my understanding that dogs under a year old shouldn't have that.

Evo tends to be a little high in protein for a pup, or so is my understanding. I raised mine on an all raw diet. And if you want to stick with grain-free then there is a pet food company called Petcurean that has a lower protein grain free food.

I never heard of that company. Thanks, I'll look into it. I'm not opposed to food with some grain, but I know my adult dog does best on the EVO.

How old is your Aussie Pup? I started my Border Collie pup on EVO at about 5 months. He did fine.

I don't have any way to tell her actual age because she was dumped but I would guess somewhere between 8 to 12 weeks. She still has little baby needle teeth and naps a lot if that means anything lol.

I would wait a bit to switch to EVO, maybe around 6 months old. For now, I would just use Innova Adult on her.

If you want to keep with the grain-free, Nature's Variety Instinct is grain-free, and it's a little lower in protein than EVO. Otherwise, the main Innova line is still an excellent food that would be fine for a puppy.

What about Taste of the Wild? I know that's available locally. Innova unfortunately isn't.
